M and TE—Highway snow ploughs

The M and TE series snow ploughs are stronger tools designed for scraping situations as encountered on highways.

Whether they are set for positive or negative scraping using steel, rubber or polyurethane scrapers, equipped with a single or a double blade, our entire range will best suit your requirements when it comes to clearing snow from fast highways.

The M range of snow ploughs are single blade units. The high density polyethylene shield is mounted on the frame for lighter and higher performance blades. Even at very low temperatures, the snow and ice will not stick to the shield thanks to the very slippery polyethylene surface. It is corrosion resistant and very easy to replace.

The supporting frame is made from high elastic limit steel with robot welded continuous bead welds.

Scrapers

  • Rubber scraper

The rubber scraper is especially well suited to wet, cold or melting snow. The dual 60/90 shore hardness scraper has a negative angle of attack. Its characteristics let it follow the irregularities in the road.

  • Steel scraper

The steel scraper is ideal for aggressively working on hard or frozen snow.

It ensures significant scraping action thanks to its positive angle of attack.

The base of the blade is secured by springs or a hydraulic system with nitrogen accumulators so that the cutters can retract if they meet an obstacle on the road.

  • Polyurethane scraper
  • The polyurethane scraper works with a positive angle of attack of +45°. It is especially suited to high speed working as its geometry rolls the snow for a very high ejection rate. It is aligned with the polyethylene surface.

Dual scraping

Dual scraping allows using two different types of scrapers on the same snow plough: Rubber/steel, steel/polyurethane, etc.

This combination allows working more than one kind of snow with a single plough.

The scraper is changed automatically thanks to a hydraulic tipping system controlled from the cab.

The TE range blades are telescopic ones. They comprise a fixed structure and one or two extendible elements that allow varying the working width in real-time, depending on conditions.

These extensions are hydraulically controlled. This way the operator can work with the extensions closed, fully open and even in any position in between. These settings can be changed even while working and from the cab.

The plough shield is extended with a steel scraping edge bolted on. This unique profile offers an excellent capacity to discharge large amounts of snow.

Scrapers

  • Steel scraper

A steel scraper is ideal for aggressively working on hard or frozen snow.

It has a significant scraping action thanks to a positive angle of attack.

  • Polyurethane scraper
  • The polyurethane scraper works with a positive angle of attack of +45°. It is especially suited to high speed working as its geometry rolls the snow for a very high ejection rate. It is aligned with the polyethylene surface.

Coupling plate

Adapts to all carriers equipped with a front coupling plate system.

Oscillation

The blade oscillates around a central pivot guided by a ring with built-in grease nipples.

A system allows following the camber of the road to an angle of +/- 7°.

Thanks to a special system, when the blade is in the raised position, it remains horizontal.

A patented central oscillation system locks the blade in the horizontal position when it is in the high position and allows it to freely follow the road when lowered, in the working position, ensuring optimum snow clearing and even scraper wear.

Hydraulics

  • M snow ploughs
    • Lifting is done by a double effect cylinder with a safety function.
    • Direction is set by two double effect cylinders with a safety function.
    • Scrapers are changed by four double effect cylinders.
    • Safety functions are ensured by hydro-pneumatic accumulators.
  • TE snow ploughs
    • Lifting is done by a double effect cylinder with a safety function.
    • Direction is set by two single effect cylinders with a safety function.
    • The extensions are controlled by a double effect cylinder.

Warning indications

ARVEL ploughs are compliant with applicable standards, with:

Two class II reflective strips affixed to the upper, outer plough blade end and visible from ahead.

Two LED clearance lights mounted on the ends of the plough blade on a flexible mount (red LED facing back and white LED facing forward).

Two fog markers are placed on the ends of the plough blade on a removable base.

Auxiliary light kit.

This lighting backs up the vehicle lights when the snow plough is mounted on the truck and connected to it (sidelights, dipped beam, high beam and direction indicators. These lights are mounted on a support to light the road (with the original lights being masked by the snow plough).

Easycom10 control boxes

Equipped with a joystick, the Easycom10 control box is used to position the plough blade using CAN-BUS.
